Bad Rhetoric!

Wherein the inane mumblings of one man's brain stumble their way into the public's conscious.

So I guess my brother decided that since he still pays some of the rent, he can use part of the apartment as a closet for his girlfriend’s stuff… I guess technically I don’t really use that part of the room anyway, but still, what the hell man? It smells like cigarette smoke too…

Can’t talk sense into him either. Basic human decency doesn’t mean a thing to him.

I actually wanted to go to the movies today, but it’s a lot harder to go by bus on a Saturday than I thought. Oh well, maybe next time.

I’ve decided to move up to Pensacola. I gave it a lot of thought over the last few weeks, and it just seems too damn good to pass up. Housing is cheaper, the food is better, the people are nicer, and they have seasons. This is the best way, in my eyes, for me to get things back on track. Of course, for a little while I’ll be staying with my mom, but that isn’t all bad. Especially considering she’ll only charge me $75 a month for rent.

I realized that there really isn’t anything for me down here. There may have been one or two things, sure, but I’ve already dealt with that business. I do feel that I’m going to have a better future up there. I’ve already made my decision, and I’m a man that follows through with his word. No turning back now.

I just hope actually having a winter again doesn’t kill me.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived at the Pensacola airport was that they have a thing for the Blue Angels. In fact, a giant diagram of them is right in your face when you go down to the baggage claim. From there on, you get to see paraphernalia decorating pretty much every street corner. Oh yeah, there is a Blue Angel Street too. It kind of makes sense once you look into it, as Pensacola is the home base of the Blue Angels, as Pensacola contains the biggest Naval Aviation base in America.

Speaking of which, the base contains a free museum dedicated to airplanes and the navy. We ended up taking a trip there on the second day. The museum itself, as I said, is located right in the middle of the base, so you get to see the actual servicemen and planes they use on the way there. I think there was also an old surface to air missile parked outside. Inside the museum was pretty huge for being free. The first thing we did was check out the IMAX movie dedicated to the evolution of flight. The screen was something like 8 stories tall so it was pretty cool for a museum movie. They also had a cool cafe inside that contained hundreds of plaques with the names of old navy air squads. Some of them even had little statues of devils and birds and stuff. The rest of the museum was pretty much old planes from different time periods, which was still pretty cool.

Afterwards we ended up going to one of the many take-out places they have around that I’ve never heard of before called Whataburger. It was kind of like a cross between Five Guys and McDonalds. We tried to go to Mobile Alabama, but we had car trouble just after crossing the state line. We got scared of what might be wrong with the car so we went back home to watch Sweeney Todd. After we were done watching that I was able to convince mom to go to Walmart, where I bought her Final Fantasy XIII for her birthday present. I played it for a couple hours afterwards and ended up getting jealous that I gave it to her and wasnt able to play it myself.

She’s still trying to convince me to move up there. It’s definitely something I have to decide on soon.

First day out, we spent most of the day travelling around the city and taking in the local sights. It’s so surprising how different things are up here, I really felt like I was in a separate state all together. For one, there were hills when down south you have nothing but flatland. Another thing was, no palm trees! Still Florida, but instead of the iconic palms they have pine and leaf trees. They actually have seasons too, so the leaves change and the trees go barren, which is something I kind of miss. The snow is kind of eh, but hey its different.

We ended up going to a local zoo near the end of the trip. It was kind of a dinky little place, but we were looking for something to do and I don’t think Mom actually ever visited it. It was okay overall, but it was hot as hell and they didn’t provide any water fountains or anything, and charged $2 for water! Anyway, after that was all over we chilled out for a bit and then headed out to the Macaroni Grill with Jeremy’s mom for dinner. I had some seafood linguine, so it was all good. While we were out though, there was a lightning storm that blew out their cable and internet, so we basically had to survive on movies and games while we were at home. I ended up having to go to bed at like 8 that night because of my nocturnal instincts.

I got to see the pets too. My dog Charlie lost a whole lot of weight running around in the humongous backyard they got there. I barely was able to see him because they kept him outside and he was too busy zooming around to stop for anyone. They have 3 cats now, including my cat Ryu. The other two are from a stray litter they found in the backyard from what I was told, and they took a black male and a tabby girl, who don’t look anything alike but are brother and sister.

Anyway, we didn’t get to do all we wanted, but we at least got out the next day.

So made it up to Pensacola the other day to visit parents. Had to take every kind of public transportation imaginable to get here, but it had to be done. Miami Airport was pretty huge, which was good since I ended up getting through security about 4 hours sooner than I thought I would. I didn’t even know an airport could have jewelry shops.

The flight up was so fast I don’t think there was even time to reach cruising altitude. Not that I’m complaining. I was dead tired by the time I got in, but it was still nice to see everyone again. The house they live in is pretty big, and despite what I thought earlier I actually get my own little bed and room to sleep in.

We’re spending the day exploring the surrounding areas, so hopefully I’ll be able to get some pictures and stories.

Ugh, I was so confident up all week, but now that the day has finally come I keep coming up with the worst case scenarios. Maybe its just from being excited?
